Out of print for a while, this lovely little booklet has been reproduced to coincide with the Fishing for History Project at the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon 2013-2015
With information and history provided by Josephine Sims, a local lass who has knitted Appledore Frocks all her life, teaches people to knit and is an active promoter of the vernacular craft.
Author John Whitlock, also from Appledore has recorded Josephine's words and explains the full meaning of Prangs (needles), Tacks (Stick and leather knitting tool) and Frocks (Appledore Jerseys) together with stories and history.
Also included at the back of the pamphlet are full instructions to knit an Appledore Gansey. A lovely little gem you'll love to add to your gansey library.
